The event: 'His Master's Voice' at Sleeve Notes: New Writing & Music to Celebrate Record Store Day
The venue: International Anthony Burgess Foundation, Manchester
The concept: A short story set to Rickerly's music about Nipper the dog from the HMV logo. Rickerly performed in his trademark multi-mask head, while I painted a dog onto my face. You had to be there.
The themes: animal psychology, ancient rites, metamorphosis, humanity, celebrity, the final howl
